Mr. Hubert Hanjause Namani

Principal

Mr. Namani holds 20 years post admission experience primarily in the private and corporate sector and leads the firm’s Port Moresby and Kokopo offices and has the overall responsibility of all legal matters handled by the Practise.
 
Mr Namani holds the following affiliations amongst others: PNG Law Society, PNG Chamber of Mines & Petroleum, PNG Business Council, Indigenous Business Council – Honorary Lawyer to the Council New Zealand Alumni Network, and Pacific Islands Business Network.
Currently he holds Directorship of Mayur Resources – an ASX listed company, is the immediate past Chief Commissioner of the PNG Accident Investigation Commission, Director of Kapit Agor Tumil Ltd – a Lihir Gold Project Landowner company, and was the Founding Board Chairman of Water PNG and delivered the merger of Eda Ranu and Water Board into one entity.
 
Mr Namani has extensive experience across all areas from Litigation, Commercial, Mining and Petroleum, to Banking and Finance and has the ability and capacity to undertake any major legal work in multi sectors in country and leads the firm in carriage of all matters currently handled by the firm.

Ms. Gretel Kogora

Senior Associate Litigation

Gretel has a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of Papua New Guinea and a Masters of Law (LLM) from the University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom. She was admitted to the Bar on 25 November 2005, and has been in Private Practice since January 2006. Gretel is a member of the PNG Law Society.

Gretel is a knowledgeable and experienced litigator. She regularly appears in both the National and Supreme Courts in Papua New Guinea. In the 15 years of practice, Gretel’s advocacy is amongst the most detailed. Gretel has experience in the Public & Administrative Law (Judicial Review cases), Contract Law, Employment Law, Insurance Law, Personal Injury, and Mining Law. She also has experience in settlement of disputes through Mediations.
Gretel also has experience in appearance before the Courts of the lower jurisdiction, for Family Court cases, Road Traffic cases, Committal Court cases, and from time to time, Bail applications in the National Court.
Immediately prior to joining Namani & Associates, Gretel was employed by Dentons PNG (formerly Gadens Lawyers) as a Litigation Lawyer in the Business Unit. She has also worked as a Litigation lawyer with Mirupasi Lawyers, Steamships Limited and Stevens Lawyers.
Gretel manages the Litigation section of the Firm and reports directly to the Principal.

Ms. Jan Marie Ainui

Senior Associate Litigation

Jan-Maree is a Senior Associates with Namani & Associates. She graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea in 2006 with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted to practice in the National and Supreme Courts of Papua New Guinea in 2007.
She is the immediate past Solicitor in Charge of the Public Solicitors’ Office in Kokopo and has extensive criminal and civil litigation exposure and experience at the District, National and Supreme Courts.  
Under a twinning program she was engaged with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Legal Services (ATSILS) briefly in Brisbane, Australia in May 2015.
 
Jan-Maree is the firm’s Senior Associate managing our Kokopo Practice.

Mr. Jomel Waka 

Associate

Jomel is an Associate with Namani & Associates. He graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea in 2018 with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted to practise in the National and Supreme Courts of Papua New Guinea on the 1st of March 2019. 
He commenced work with Namani & Associates on 7th March 2019 and currently handles both Commercial and Litigation matters under the supervision of the principal.
Jomel has a focus on small scale mining and has been handling transactions and licensing for small scale miners and supporting the Principal on the Lihir Gold Project and Simberi Gold Project since 2019.
Currently he is also handling litigation matters in Forestry, Banking and Finance, Land Disputes and Matrimonial Causes.
